Overview | What Is Dragon Magick? | Dragons Of The Elements | Ritual Tools | Dragon Blessing | Dragon Script | Color Correspondences | Crystal And Gemstone Correspondences | Properties Of Herbs, Plants, Oils, And Herbal Blends

This is a ritual for blessing and consecrating all your ritual tools. Whether your ritual tools are chosen specifically for Dragon Magick or whether you plan to use them in several kinds of magick, it is wise, as well as a nice gesture, to ask your dragons to add their powerful blessings to the equipment. The stronger the power in a magickal ritual tool, the better the rituals are worked. This ritual is best performed on the night of a Full Moon or at Bright Noon, although, it can be performed at any time. All of the tools may be consecrated at once if you have gathered them, or you may consecrate those that you have at this point. Others may be blessed as you acquire them. This ritual can also be used to re-purify your tools. Tools that you will find useful at this point are:

The Dragon Pentacle, The Pentacle Disk, Incense Burner, Chalices, Salt Dish, Sword or Dagger(Athame) and Wand.

Note: If you are not able to acquire an item, do not put off beginning your practice of Dragon Magick. It is possible to use regular household items until other items are acquired. For example, use the kitchen table or a nightstand in your bedroom as an altar. One white candle in a fireproof holder is better than none; however, if you cannot have a candle, substitute an electric candle or small light. A paring knife will work as a ritual dagger for carving script onto the candle. A pleasant cologne or aftershave can become an emergency incense. A glass can be a chalice. Use your imagination and inventiveness until you can acquire better tools. Also, if you do not have wine to use for your ritual, you can substitute apple cider, grape juice, fruit juice or even soda, for this ritual, or even any other rituals for that matter.

Setting Up The Ritual Area:

Arrange you ritual area with care. It is best to set the altar in the center of your working area so that you can face the east. Light the two altar candles (Black on the left and White on the right). A knowledgeable magician knows that using black candles is not evil magick. The color black is merely the opposite of white; it balances the energies. However, if you have an aversion to the color black, it signals a need for you to do some intense work on the programming you have accumulated in your subconscious mind.

Play soft instrumental music in the background if you wish. It helps to set the mood and mask minor noises.

Now that your ritual area is set up, you are ready to cast the circle. Before doing so, make sure you have everything that you need for the Ritual you are about to perform. Once the circle is cast Do Not cross the boundary until the ritual is finished! Dragon power is a totally different and more unpridictable kind of magick; it can even be dangerous if you are frivolous and half-hearted about your work.

Casting The Circle:

Begin by going to the East. With the forefinger of your power hand (this is generally considered the one with which you write) "draw" your magickal circle on the floor around your ritual area. Do this by pointing your finger at the floor and imagining great flames shooting from it. With that flame, move clockwise around the circle and end by overlapping it in the East. While drawing the circle say:

By Dragon Power, This Circle Is Sealed.

Blessing Ritual:

Return to your altar. Place a small amount of Frankincense on the burning charcoal in the incense burner (if you cannot acquire incense charcoal or Frakincense gum to burn, use a Frankincense incense stick). Point your forefinger at the burner and say:

By Dragon Power, I Call You Purified.

Take your incense burner and carry it around the edge of the cast circle, moving clockwise, beginning and ending in the East. Return your incense burner to your altar. Slowly pass the Pentacle Disk through the incense smoke and say:

Element Of Spirit, By Dragon Power I Call You Purified.

Place the Pentacle Disk on your altar and set the Salt Dish on the Pentacle Disk. With the forefinger of your power hand circle the dish three times clockwise and say:

Out Of The Darkness Of Earth And Sea Comes This Blessed Salt.
By Dragon Power, I Call You Purified.

Sprinkle a few grains of Salt on all four corners of your altar. This sprinkling purifies your altar and may be done at any time, whether during ritual or as a cleansing if someone has messed about with you altar. Once your altar is purified, take the Dragon Pentacle and pass it slowly through the incense smoke and say:

Element Of Spirit, By Dragon Power I Call You Purified.

With the Dragon Pentacle in your Power Hand go to Eastern Quarter. Hold up the Pentacle, face the East and say:

Dragons Of Air, Behold Your Symbol And Ally.

Moving clockwise, go to the South. Hold up the Pentacle and say:

Dragons Of Fire, Behold Your Symbol And Ally.

Go to the West. Hold up the Pentacle and say:

Dragons Of Water, Behold Your Symbol And Ally.

Finish by going to the North. Hold up the Pentacle and say:

Dragons Of Earth, Behold Your Symbol And Ally.

Return to your altar. Lay aside the Dragon Pentacle and take up your sword. Touch it briefly to the Pentacle Disk, pass it through the incense smoke and say:

Sword Of Fire, O (name of sword), By Dragon Power I Call You Purified.

Note: Later, I will have a page explaining ritual tools and the naming of certain tools.

Hold your sword for a few moments before the Dragon Pentacle. Put down your sword and take up your dagger. Touch it to the Pentacle Disk, pass it through the incense smoke and say:

Dagger Of Fire, O (name of dagger), By Dragon Power I Call You Purified.

Hold the dagger for a few moments before the Dragon Pentacle.

For each tool, set it briefly on the Pentacle Disk, then pass it through the incense smoke. When finished with the Call, hold the tool up before the Dragon Pentacle.

Water Bottles:

Gong, Finger Symbols, Or Bell:

Mirror:

Whenever you get new supplies of herbs and oils, they can be consecrated by circling them three time with your wand and saying:

Herbs/Oils Of Earth, Given By Dragons Of Light And Darkness, By Dragon Power I Call You Purified.

Now is an excellent time to chant and use free-form dancing. Invite the dragons to share in the raised energy and joy of being a magician. Talk to them about your hopes and dreams. And listen to see if they have any suggestions or words of encouragement for you. This is an opportunity for close friendships to be forged.

Closing The Circle:

To close the circle, take your sword in your Power Hand (if you cannot acquire a sword just yet, you may use a wooden or plastic sword. Or, in an emergency, you may use the forefinger of your Power Hand). Take your wand or staff in the other hand. Hold the sword up in salute. Go to the East and say:

Dragons Of Air, Behold The Tools Of Magick, Consecrated By Dragon Power.
Let Us Be One In Magick.
Farewell, O Dragons Great And wise.

Continue clockwise to the South and say:

Dragons Of Fire, Behold The Tools Of Magick, Consecrated By Dragon Power.
Let Us Be One In Magick.
Farewell, O Dragons Great And Wise.

Go to the West and say:

Dragons Of Water, Behold The Tools Of Magick, Consecrated By Dragon Power.
Let Us Be One In Magick.
Farewell, O Dragons Great And Wise.

Go to the North and say:

Dragons Of Earth, Behold The Tools Of Magick, Consecrated By Dragon Power.
Let Us Be One In Magick.
Farewell, O Dragons Great And Wise.

Return to your altar. Point the sword at the Dragon Pentacle and say:

Dragons Of Spirit, Highest Of Dragons And Most Powerful, Bless This Altar With You Fire.
Let Us Be One In Magick.
Farewell, O Dragons Great And Wise.

Cut the circle with a backward sweep of the sword across the circle boundary. Extinguish the altar candles. Leave the ritual tools on or around the altar overnight to be further empowered. The Dragons may inspect them closer during thi time and add special blessings.

It is important to realize that you work with Dragons as partners and co-magicians. You have to be firm in your intensions but willing to listen to their point of view. A magician tries to gain control over Dragons at his/her own peril.
